Log Book Online
This is a progress of my digital drawings and artwork with recorded hours and comments for each project. It is in order by what was made first. So "Autumn" was created first and than "Glow" second, and so on. As you can see, my style varies.
Autumn
Total hours: 8hrs
This was my first creation and I wanted to somehow make her semi-realistic, but I don't think it looks like that besides the hair. The longest part for me to do was coloring the hair and skin. Drawing the anatomy was difficult for me too since I don't usually draw different poses.
Glow
Total hours: 4hrs
I felt like drawing part of a face and making it look really unique. She has some tattoo glowing all over her face. The difficult part was the hair because I had to use several different colours of strands and I was picky with the skin. I used PTSCS6 to create this.
Rain Cloud
Total hours: 2hrs
The umbrella shape of the Rain Cloud was made with a website that allowed you to input text/words and form it into a shape such as the umbrella shape below. I chose words that related to a rainy day. To create this, I used a website for the make up of the umbrella with words in it and than I used PTSCS6 to create a background with dark edges and corners of the water picture that was found in google images. So, I did some editing here and there yeh~.
Red Elebit
Total hours: 4hrs 30 min
This creation came from a DS game called "Elebits" and Elebits are the energy source of the world for electricity. I wanted to make a little creature and so it came to this. It took me quite a bit of time to create this because of the irregular shapes such as the horns, arms, and legs/feet. This was made using Sculptris.
Ring Master
Total hours: 7hrs
The Ring Master took a very long time because of drawing the doves and coloring. I had to reference doves and some clothes and designs of what a ring master would wear. ( coloring a person always takes long when they have so much detail... Refer to "Crazy" to know what I mean). I am very proud of the dove on his left hand. I like how I drew the feathers on it. I drew this using PTS.
Merry Christmas
Total hours: 2 hrs 30min
I did this all by mouse using PTSCS6. It would make a nice Christmas card. Individually coloring the ornaments and changing the color scheme of all of them at once was a challenge but I managed to get the colors I wanted.
Bleach: Kon
Total hours: 8hrs
It took me a very long time to make this because I lost some of the proportions of this character. I made this using Sculptris. This character is from a Japanese comic called Bleach by Tite Kubo. He is a stuffed animal that looks like a lion named Kon.
Water Drop Text
Total hours: 2hrs
For this particular work, it took me the longest to make the water text effect. The background was a breeze and I followed a tutorial for this. I made this using PTSCS6.
Pig 3D
Total hours: 1hr
Pig 3D came to mind while I was thinking of something cute to create that was kinda simple. I made this using Sculptris.
Blowing in the Wind
Total hours: 5hrs
Beach Girl was referenced off a person on google images. Coloring the skin was very hard. I liked how I did one of her elbows. This was the first time I started doing some kind of background for my drawings. I created this using PTS.
Mini Lu
Total hours: 4hrs
Mini Lu was created when I felt that I needed to draw something kinda childish. It's based of someone in real life haha!! Anyway, not going to name who, but it's about a person who is struggling on the right and wrong. This took an hour just to draw a rough sketch (knowing me, I am a slow drawer) and than a good sketch. After that, I started coloring and adding extras such as the right and wrong silhouettes. I made this using PTSCS6.
Rocker Dude
Total hours: 2hrs 30min
I was doodling this and than it suddenly became a 'Rocker Dude' while I was listening to some rock music. The reason I didn't color this one is because I wanted to present something that was just a line art of how I draw things in general. I drew this using PTCS6.
In the Winter
Total hours: 10 hrs
This took a very long time to draw since I was always stuck on making sure the anatomy looked right. I tried keeping this drawing simple at the same time pretty cool. The hair took the longest since I was trying to make it look somewhat realistic... I took an image off google to create a background and I blurred it than added snow. I made this using PTSCS6
Windy
Total hours: 3 hrs
A tough part in creating this is how the cloudy colors flow. I needed to create a general point to where the cloudy colors were flowing from and to. I made this using PTCS6
Model 1
Total hours: 8 hrs
I referenced this model off a real person and created a cartoon version. I changed the clothes, added hair, and a background. The hard part of this work was deciding how to draw her hair and her facial features. Colouring her bag and creating a background for the runaway took some time and effort as well. I created this using PTSCS6.
Wrapped in Constellations
Total hours: 8hrs 20 min
I'm happy that I created a galaxy starry-like background. The most difficult part of this piece was the girl’s hair which took quite a bit of thinking to figure out what colours looked best on her. I also had a hard time creating a galaxy-like background full of stars. Drawing feet was hard too since I don't normally draw feet and tend to draw shoes over them instead. I used Photoshop CS6 to create this.
Burst of Color
Total hours: 2 hrs
I referenced this eye off my eye and decided to make it look super colorful. The most tedious part of this drawing was to switch between each color. It gets really tiresome haha!! I used Paint Tool Sai to make this.
Crazy
Total hours: 15hrs 40 min
The hardest part about this project was to draw her hands and try my best to make them look proportioned. Also, the definition was very tedious ( Expl: the black shading in certain parts of the hair) Other things I had trouble with was face shape and hair designs when I was creating a rough draft of the sketch. I used Paint Tool Sai to make this.
Piece of Me and You
Total hours: 9 hrs 20 min
I decided to draw this because I felt happy. I wanted to try coloring with light bright colors as a test. I tried simplistic shading. The part that took the longest was drawing the man's body shape and shoes. The shoes gave me such a hard time since I was drawing frontal feet but realized it should have been on angles after so much frustration, I referenced off some shoe angles. I made this using PTS.
Total Hours for Projects: About 106 hrs so far
Total Hours for Extra Additions and Log Book: About 6 hrs
Hours In Total: About 112 hrs
Overall comments: Always starting off with a doodle or an idea gets really complicated for someone like me. I tend to sketch messy and erase a lot when something doesn't look right while I'm frustratingly trying to correct it. When I reference, I tend to change a lot of things from the original that it doesn't even look like it's referenced anymore... well, I mainly reference anatomy. Using Photoshop CS6 (AKA PTSCS6) and Paint Tool Sai (AKA PTS) gave me a variety of ways to be creative. I prefer drawing in PTS since I feel that I have more control when I'm drawing and it's easier to color in, it's more like a vector program. Where as, using PTSCS6 I have a variety of different brushes and tools to add to my creations and I can keep exploring the program while I work projects. Something new I was introduced to was using a program called Sculptris. It allows you to make 3D sculptures. I had fun exploring the program and I started to get used to how it worked fairly quickly. It's a very simple program for people who are interested in 3D creations. I created a few things using the program and it was very enjoyable to work with. My drawing style varies quite a bit. That's why things don't look consistent and the same. I'm on a road to self discovery to find out what my general style is and to keep improving on the things I love to draw. There are some sad things while working overall like having to abort my WIP ( Work in progress). Some came out as disasters and some weren't fixable; I had bad art blockage at some point in life... But, I learned to move on and start new! I feel that doing this huge project really improved my skills and made me realize not to give up on my hobbies. I improve and learn something every time I create new works! Thanks to this project, I feel very motivated and encourage myself to continue my self-discovery and improve my talents!
